As expected, bullion Silver Eagles crossed the 20 million milestone in annual sales and the fresh 2010-P Yosemite National Park Five Ounce Silver Uncirculated Coin started with a bang. The new release also helped the sales of other numismatic products, as many outperformed their previous increases. 61 of them rose above their prior week's sales compared to 21, according to the latest US Mint sales figures.
Yosemite National Park Five Ounce Silver Uncirculated CoinThe Yosemite National Park Five Ounce Silver Uncirculated Coin that launched on Thursday, June 9, flew off US Mint shelves. After four days on the market and a one per household limit, a total of 20,511 were picked up by collectors. That left 6,489 Yosemite coins in inventory, since the US Mint only struck 27,000.
956,500 bullion Silver Eagles sold in the last eight days, which was a nice little rally in the middle of June. The leap pushed the 2011 Silver Eagle sales figure up to 20,675,000, quite a milestone, while June's total arrived at 1,773,500.
As for the hottest set, the 2011 Proof Set took the top honor. It climbed another 11,400 for the first week-over-week sales increase in quite some time. In the last report, it rose by 7,302. The next most wanted set was the 2011 Silver Proof Set, which grew by 5,335.
The 2011 Proof Platinum Eagle lost a little more steam as it chugged forward 422 in this round. Its previous rise was 658. It will be some time before it reaches its maximum 15,000 mintage, since its new total just arrived at 7,866 or 52.4%. If more than 134 sell by next Sunday, then 2011 sales would have caught up with 2009's sales of 8,000.
