Vicksburg Quarter Three-Coin SetSales were higher for 49 United States Mint numismatic products, an improvement that was perhaps due to the launch of a new item, the Vicksburg National Military Park Quarter Three-Coin Set. Silver Eagles also continued to sell in great strides.
The Vicksburg Quarter Three-Coin Set was actually the third best seller for the week. Collectors took in 10,727 of them since their launch on Tuesday, October 18, until Monday, October 24. Compared to other new releases in the America the Beautiful Quarter Three-Coin Set series, it came in around the middle, since the prior 2011 issues opened with 10,891 for Olympic; 10,620 for Glacier; and 12,500 for Gettysburg's set.
The most popular US Mint offerings were the 2011 Proof Set, which had 12,647 in sales, and the 2011 Proof Silver Eagles, which added 11,995 to their total. Both products have been in the top spots for a couple of weeks. The Proof Set's new figure reached 881,854 and the Proof Silver Eagles clocked in at 783,787.
In bullion news, every coin advanced. The latest year-to-date numbers come to 36,375,500 for the American Silver Eagles, and in the American Gold Eagles arena, the one ounce coins are at 802,500; the half-ounce moved up to 65,000; the quarter-ounce ended up at 78,000; and the one-tenth ounce have 355,000. American Buffalo gold coins also moved up to 145,000.
