Garfield Presidential $1 and First Spouse Medal Set

The final Presidential $1 and First Spouse Medal Set of 2011 will be on the market soon. The United States Mint announced their plans to launch the Garfield Presidential $1 and First Spouse Medal Set on Thursday, December 22, at 12:00 PM (noon) Eastern Time.

This collector's set contains an uncirculated James Garfield Presidential $1 Coin and a Lucretia Garfield Bronze Medal, bearing the likeness of the First Spouse Gold Coins that honor her.

The two pieces are mounted on durable card stock, with the couple's names, signatures, and portraits on the front. The back of the card lists the issuance information of the $1 and medal.

At $14.95 each, the Garfield Set is priced the same as the other 2011-dated sets in the series. Earlier ones, which are still available, honored the Johnsons, the Grants and the Hayes. The standard shipping and handling fee of $4.95 will apply to all domestic orders.

James Garfield was the 20th President of the United States. He and Lucretia were in the White House in 1881.

WASHINGTON - The United States Mint Presidential $1 Coin & First Spouse Medal Set - James Garfield will be available for purchase starting at noon Eastern Time (ET) on December 22, 2011. The set includes an uncirculated quality James Garfield Presidential $1 Coin and a bronze medal bearing the same likeness of Lucretia Garfield that appears on the First Spouse Gold Coin struck in her honor.

The coin and medal are encased in a durable plastic card that is enhanced with beautiful representations of the portraits of the President and first lady, with issuance information on the back.
