The United States Mint will launch its collector Rutherford B. Hayes Presidential Dollar Coin Cover on Tuesday, October 4, at noon ET. It will be $19.95, which has been the price for earlier covers featuring the 2011 Presidential Dollars.

Two Rutherford B. Hayes Presidential $1 coins make up the product. They were picked from the first day of production at the Philadelphia and Denver facilities on June 1, 2011. The items are sealed within a decorative display card with a postage stamp. The postmark on the card is August 18, 2011, Hayes' dollar release date. The packaging also includes an image of the President.

The Rutherford B. Hayes Presidential Dollar Coin Cover is the third of four new issues this year and the nineteenth overall. The U.S. Mint has a limit of 22,000 orders, and usually more than half of them will go during the first few weeks of availability.

Rutherford B. Hayes, the lawyer from Cincinnati, won a seat in the House of Representatives even though he did not campaign because he was busy serving as an officer during the Civil War. Next he became Governor of Ohio for three consecutive terms, before running for President. After a controversial election, President Hayes was credited for financial conservatism and moderate reform. Following his one term, between 1877 and 1881, he retired to his home at Spiegel Grove.

WASHINGTON - The United States Mint will begin accepting orders for the Rutherford B. Hayes $1 Coin Cover on October 4, 2011, at noon Eastern Time (ET). The limited-edition coin cover, priced at $19.95, includes two circulating quality 2011 Rutherford B. Hayes Presidential $1 Coins from the first day of mintage at the United States Mint facilities at both Denver and Philadelphia - June 1, 2011.

The coins are mounted on a handsome display card with a 44-cent postage stamp. The postmark of "August 18, 2011" marks the day the Rutherford B. Hayes Presidential $1 Coins were first released to the public.

US Mint Silver Eagles Score Annual Sales Record, Hayes Coin Cover Debuts

The two most popular collecting products in the latest United States Mint sales stats were the debuting Rutherford B. Hayes Presidential Dollar Coin Cover and the 2011 Proof Set. The newly released coin cover also had a positive impact on the others in its series that are still being offered. Overall, 63 United States Mint products improved over their prior week's gains.

The Hayes Dollar Coin Cover is the third of four scheduled this year. Its debuting numbers reached 14,051 between the launch on Tuesday, October 4, and the Mint's sales count on October 11. The figure came in behind the Ulysses S. Grant Dollar Coin Cover that started in July with 15,695 and also the Andrew Johnson Dollar Cover that opened with 15,459 in March.

Just behind Hayes' cover was the 2011 Proof Set with weekly sales that hit 11,398. Its gain blasted past its previous increase of 8,780. Right now the 2011 Proof Set total is at 856,820, or 78.4 percent of the total achieved by the 2010 Proof Set (1,092,820).

Bullion American Silver Eagles hit a new record. Purchases in October, which are sitting at 1,880,000, have pushed the year-to-date sales up to 35,291,500, thus making 2011 the highest selling year in the series. The old Silver Eagles' annual record was set in 2010 with sales of 34,662,500.

The numismatic proof Silver Eagles also enjoyed better sales after their suspensions were lifted on Friday. Sales rose 3,450 to 755,777. On the flip side, the numismatic uncirculated Silver Eagles had their total fall by 424. Their sales stand at 182,100.

Hayes Presidential $1 Coin and First Spouse Medal Set

The United States Mint will accept orders for the Hayes Presidential $1 Coin and First Spouse Medal Set beginning Thursday, September 22, at 12:00 PM (noon) Eastern Time.

Hayes Presidential $1 Coin and First Spouse Medal Set

An uncirculated Rutherford B. Hayes Presidential $1 Coin and a Lucy Hayes Bronze Medals, bearing the likeness of the First Spouse Gold Coins that honor her, make up the two product set. The items are mounted on a decorative but durable plastic card with the President and First Lady's images.

As the twentieth issue in the series of Presidential $1 Coin and First Spouse Medal Sets and the third one for this year, the Hayes set will open at $14.95 plus shipping and handling, the same price as other 2011-minted sets that are still available.

The Federal Reserve Bank released the Rutherford B. Hayes Presidential $1 into circulation on August 18, 2011, and the U.S. Mint began selling 25-coin rolls of them the same day. His coin features a profile portrait of him that was designed and sculpted by Don Everhart. Everhart also designed the coin's reverse portraying the Statue of Liberty.

The Lucy Hayes Bronze Medals and 24-karat First Spouse Gold Coins went on sale earlier this month on September 1, 2011. The obverse is her image, designed by Susan Gamble and sculpted by Don Everhart. The reverse is a depiction of Lucy Hayes' participation in the first Easter Egg Roll held at the White House. It was designed by Barbara Fox and sculpted by Joseph Menna.

Rutherford B. Hayes was the 19th President of the United States. He and his wife Lucy served as President and First Lady for one term from 1877-1881.
